In the month of April 2007 Chiefs Anchored In Christ (CAIC). Saw the need to reach out to Sailors in another light outside of traditional ways to help them understand the Navy’s mission and to teach the Sailors how to be successful in their career while serving in the Navy. CAIC understood that with the OPTEMPO of the Navy and the Global War on Terrorism that a lot of Sailors and their commands were increasingly given a limited window for getting ready for their mission. So some Chiefs who believe in God and live by his principles got together and decided that they would develop a program off base and in environment where Sailors would not have to be distracted by their work environment. CAIC was established with the sole purpose to provide guidance, develop, encourage and challenge all military personnel to be leaders and examples in the U.S. Armed Forces.

Their mission statement: Chiefs impacting the lives of others through serving Christ. While “Ask the Chief” is a household term in the Navy and many officers and enlisted follow their advice. These Chiefs realized that they needed to “Ask God First” for knowledge, wisdom, and understanding to help those who looked to them for advice and guidance.
